We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and forward thinking individual to join our Point of Care Testing Department as a Biomedical Scientist in Point of Care Testing (POCT).This post is cross site, requiring the post holder to work at Queen's Hospital ,King George and Trust led community clinics as required. The Post holder will contribute to key governance tasks in line with UKAS standards as the department aims to work towards accreditation.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day running and development of the Point of Care Testing department. The post holder will have an in-depth scientific knowledge of at least one Pathology discipline and will work with the POCT Clinical Lead, POCT Lead BMS, Lead BMS, POCT Senior BMS and POCT Associate Practitioners to ensure that all scientific, technical, and quality aspects of the POCT services are maintained across BHRUT and community hospitals. The post holder must be able to work autonomously where appropriate. The role will often require you to communicate with other departments and hospitals face to face, therefore good organisational and interpersonal skills are essential to the role.

These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and are providing an extra 94,000 scans a year.
