Job summary
Applications are invited for a full time Consultant in Acute Medicine to join the Emergency Department and Acute Services Care Group at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.
This is the most exciting time to join BHRUT given the focus on unplanned emergency care and the resulting opportunities both clinical and non-clinical.
We are a tertiary centre for neurosciences and one of 10 national elective surgical centres. We are in the process of further expanding unplanned emergency care services including developing patient centred pathways such as OPAT and expanding our SDEC on both sites which has received a massive financial boost.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join an existing team of dynamic acute medical consultants with a variety of specialist interests. Recognising passion as resulted us in improving our performance, HEE feedback and also patient feedback. We invest in the person just as much as the service.
You will be working as part of a cross-site service working within:
Ambulatory Emergency Care/SDEC
Short stay Ward
Assessment units

We operate from two main sites - KGH in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We have two busy emergency departments with more than 330,000 people visiting them last year. We're campaigning to secure the £35m we need to transform the A&E at Queen'sand get rid of corridor care.
Our patients are benefitting from ourWomen's Health Hub in Ilford; anAgeing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) atBarking Community Hospital and a St George's Health and Wellbeing Hub in Hornchurch.
These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and are providing an extra 94,000 scans a year.
The majority of our 8,000 staff - who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups.
