Job summary
The Academy of Emergency Medicine at BHRUT offers a structured training program for Resuscitation Fellows, led by specialist Emergency Medicine consultants. The program aims to develop fellows' competencies to a senior registrar level, equipping them with advanced resuscitation skills across two hospitals, King George and Queens. It includes a three-year postgraduate degree (PGDip/MSc) in Emergencies and Resuscitation Medicine through Queen Mary University London, delivered remotely with coursework, tutorials, and dissertation supervision. The program features rotations in Emergency Department and Intensive Care, educational development time, training opportunities, research involvement, ultrasound accreditation, mentorship, teaching responsibilities, and participation in simulation training. Candidates must reside in the UK or have indefinite leave to remain.
Main duties of the job
- The appropriate discharge of patients to a specialist unit within the hospital and other hospitals in the area, General Practitioner of back to the community.
- The direct clinical supervision and training of the Emergency department Junior Medical Staff and Emergency Nurse Practitioners working in the Emergency Departments as well as the organisation and delegation of clinical work.
- The readiness of the department to implement at any time the Major Incident Plan.
- The post holder will contribute to the periodic reviews and verifications of these plans.
- Ensuring the effective organisation of the reception, resuscitation, diagnosis, and emergency treatment of all patients presenting to the Emergency Department
- Active participation at various committees and working groups.
- Participation in development of emergency treatment protocols.
- Professional supervision under Consultant guidance aiming to encourage the development of all doctors within Emergency Medicine.
- Contributing to the provision of reports for the Coroner, Police Statements and for demonstrating an involvement in Clinical Governance; Risk Management and Clinical
- Ensuring own practice is up to date. This will include taking responsibility for own clinical professional development and participation in the Trust wide appraisal system.
- Complying with data protection.
- Complying with all relevant Trust Policies and Procedures.

These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and are providing an extra 88,000 scans a year.
