An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Practice Development Nurse to join our existing highly motivated team within our Emergency Department at Queen's Hospital.

We are looking for an enthusiastic Nurse with a passion for delivering high quality care in partnership with staff, patients and their relatives. In addition to clinical educational duties, the appointed candidate will attend training and meetings beneficial to his/her role.

As part of the BHRUT and Barts Health collaboration, there are also plenty of opportunities for development and training.

There are leadership courses, access to Masters and other training programmes as well as in-house training. Not forgetting the opportunity to develop teaching skills yourself as part of the departmental education programme.

Main duties of the job

To support changes in nursing practice within the A & E department based on evidence, research, audit findings and best practice, which improve and impact positively on patient outcomes and key performance indicators.

To work in conjunction with the Matron, Senior Nurses, Sisters and Charge Nurses in the assessment and audit of staff clinical skills.

To collaborate with the Matron and Senior Sisters / Charge Nurses in working with staff who are under performing, providing objective assessment, setting action plans, evaluating and reviewing performance.

To provide written reports in relation to individuals ability to perform at the required level and in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Councils Code of Conduct

To provide professional nursing advice and guidance.

Support the Matron and Sisters / Charge Nurses with professional advice to find resolutions to problems and to improve the patient experience.

To develop and contribute to teaching programmes.

Maintain a high clinical profile by visible presence within the department, providing support. Working clinically within the department to maintain own knowledge and development.

These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and are providing an extra 88,000 scans a year.
