Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Haematology and Oncology Outpatient Department which is seeking a committed individual who demonstrates PRIDE behaviours to join the team as a new Junior Sister/Charge Nurse who has experience in administering Systemic anti-cancer treatment ( SACT). If you do not have the relevant experience in SACT then a training post at Band 5 can be offered until competencies are completed.

This is a busy Outpatient Department open Monday-Friday 08.00-18.00, you would be required to work 4-5 shifts during these hours. This is a full-time post, flexibility is required. You would be expected to work the hours of opening to enable the service to be covered.

Patients with either a malignant or non-malignant Haematology or oncology diagnosis attend the outpatient area for review of diagnosis and subsequent management.

Nurses within the department run nurse led clinics delivering a mixture of supportive treatments and Subcut SACT, as well CVAD care and Oral SACT pre-assessments and monitoring. The post holder will require an NMC registration and proven experience post registration ward/acute nursing. It is desired that the candidate has experience of SACT administration and has completed the SACT passport.

You will work in the department supporting the team to deliver high quality care to our patients and be part of a developing service.

Main duties of the job

You need to demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and be IT competent and someone who is passionate about delivering high quality care.

As a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse you will be working to help continue the service development particularly within oral SACT, as well has bringing innovation and drive to the team. Supporting the Senior Sister with audits, off duty and appraisals alongside other projects.

To deliver a high standard of care to Haematology and Oncology patients who attend the Haematology/Oncology Outpatient department.

To be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for patients undergoing Radiotherapy and Systemic anti-cancer treatment ( SACT ) who attend the Haematology/Oncology Outpatient department.
