Band 5 EPR Trainer

The EPR Team and Education teams are excited to announce a fantastic opportunity to join us and play a vital role in the training of staff to enable a successful implementation of our new Oracle Health (Cerner) Millennium EPR on a shared domain with Barts Health.

To make implementation and adoption of our new EPR a success, it is vital that our staff are fully trained and confident in using the new systems, and the role of the EPR Trainer is key to this success.

Our EPR Trainers will provide face-to-face and virtual training to a range of trust staff, reviewing and updating lesson plans and resources, and keeping accurate records to ensure delivery of our training plan is a success.

We are looking for individuals with experience of training or mentoring in the workplace and a good understanding of NHS workflows, who are passionate about supporting our staff through this exciting time.

We would welcome informal enquiries in advance, and ask all internal BHRUT staff to discuss any secondment opportunities with their existing line manager before applying.

Main duties of the job

For further information on this role, please see the attached detailed Job Description and Person Specification.

  • Deliver training as identified within the EPR programme.
  • Provide face to face training in the classroom, virtual training via MS Teams and any other designated area/method in accordance with the training schedule using the training resources available.
  • Occasionally demonstrate workflows at any Divisional/Department meetings for all Trust staff.
  • Ensure user guides are updated with Trust information and logos.
  • Ensure that any training material required to support training is compiled in accordance with departmental process, which may include eLearning, training videos, lesson plans, worksheets, and handouts.
  • Review and update lesson plans, worksheets, and other resources to support delivery of training where required (i.e. handouts, QRGs).
  • Ensure that any training material used is kept up to date and relevant.
  • Keep accurate records of all staff trained in line with current practice within the EPR Training Team.
  • Undertake the relevant preparation for each training session you are taking including post and pre course set-up as indicated on the lesson plans for each application taught.
  • Undertake post course administration in accordance with the departmental process using BEST (BHRUT's in-House Learning Management System) to record classroom and virtual session outcomes.

About us

We're an organisation that is getting better and better. We were the most improved Trust in England for A&E performance in 2023/24; we're no longer in special measures; and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive, has been named the top CEO by the Health Service Journal. Our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we're proud of and that our patients are happy with.

Many of our 8,000 staff - who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and the majority are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. More than 400 of them are on apprenticeship programmes and we're proud to be a London Living Wage employer.

We operate from two main sites - King George Hospital (KGH) in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London - more than 300,000 people visited our A&Es in 2023.

Patients across north east London are benefitting from two new state of the art theatres at KGH and our Community Diagnostic Centres at Barking Community Hospital and St George's Health and Wellbeing Hub will significantly increase the number of scans that can be carried out.

We're looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record next year. This will mean the records of any patient visiting one of the seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health will be accessible to the clinical teams. It'll make things easier for staff and will be better for patients.
