Due to a very exciting nurse staffing review, we have been able to create an additional Band 7 nurses this will bring the total of Band 7 nurses to a complement that will allow 3 per shift.
This ensures that you will be able to keep your clinical skills up to date whilst learning the skills of managing the department and staff. So, if you are ready for the next step in your career and don't want to step away from clinical hands-on Emergency Care this is the role for you.
We are a Level 2 Trauma centre and have a busy and exciting Emergency Department. We are building a dedicated Resus nursing team, have the Resuscitation Nursing Passport as well as funding for 10 nurses a year to complete the ATNC.
We have an active ACP programme and there are ongoing opportunities to apply for a post for training should that be the direction that you identify you want to take from this band 7 role.
As part of the BHRUT and Barts Health collaboration there are plenty of opportunities for development and training. There are leadership courses, access to Masters and other training programmes as well as the inhouse training. Not forgetting the opportunity for developing teaching skills yourself as part of the departmental education programme.
Main duties of the job

- Act as a clinical leader and role model whilst providing direct quality patient care, sharing expertise with colleagues.
- Organise the day to day running of the Emergency Department
- Ensure communication within the department is constructive and effective
- Maintain effective relationships between the multi -professional team in the clinical environment

We provide care for the residents of three diverse London boroughs. Most of our 7,800 permanent staff live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge and the majority are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
