The Surgical Division of Barking Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust are recruiting to a Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge post currently available on the Ocean A ward at Queen's Hospital.

BHRUT has a team of highly trained, dedicated and experienced professionals across the two hospitals. The division is committed to providing high levels of training and education to staff and is also active in developing multidisciplinary team working and research development. We use and continue to develop minimally invasive (keyhole) techniques for many procedures.
A full range of diagnostic assessment and treatment services are provided in our unit.
As well as offering diverse experiences in gastro team, BHRUT is ideally suited for both hospital staff living locally and staff who like to commute to their place. BHRUT offers a close proximity to Britain's capital City with London being approximately 1/2 hour away by public transport. Both hospitals are served well with excellent transport links.
Main duties of the job
The Sister/Charge Nurse will actively participate in and oversee the management of the clinical area. They will act as a mentor, teaching and supervising junior staff and colleagues, including student nurses, healthcare support workers, medical staff and AHPs.
The Senior Sister/Charge Nurse is responsible for the clinical management of the area and its integrated governance.
To provide a focused leadership role and manage the staff and activities of the ward or clinical area as a ward based leader.
To act as a role model, provide leadership and co-ordinate the ward team in the clinical area. To demonstrate advanced clinical specialist skills in order to provide the highest standard of individualised evidence based patient centred care while supervising the work of others (in line with local and national standards). To be responsible for the ward/clinical area.

We provide care for the residents of three diverse London boroughs. Most of our 7,800 permanent staff live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge and the majority are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. The Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital is one of eight to be accredited as part of a national scheme; the Care Quality Commission has raised the ratings forurgent and emergency careat Queen's and King George hospitals; anddata released by NHS Englandshowed that the Trust was the most improved in 2023 for reducing waits for emergency care.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
