We have an exciting opportunity in Geriatric Division care of the elderly Unit at King George site at BHRUT Hospitals. We are looking to recruit a registered nurse as a clinical Band 7 to join our existing highly motivated team on at the Frailty unit on the KGH Site which is an acute ED setting for frail older patients with frailty score of 6 and above.
Care of the Elderly is currently going through a process of change to ensure we meet the on-going needs of our elderly patients and to provide an excellent standard of care every time and every day. This is an ideal opportunity for you to bring your experiences and visions to help us to deliver these changes.
We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse with post experience working as a band 6 or equivalent with experience in elderly care and a passion for delivering high quality care, training to our staff in partnership with patients and their relatives, putting the patients at the centre of our PRIDE values and promoting good patient experience. The nurse will be working in a busy Frailty ED which operates 24/7 and can work well under pressure. The nurse will be expected to and work alongside the geriatrician/SPR accepting referral from LAS, CTT and GP. The nurse should be able to identify patients that are suitable for ED Acute Frailty Mobile Rafting Team who can be transferred to Beech Frailty Unit at any stage of their admission.
Main duties of the job
Take charge of flow of the frailty unit or take accountability for a group of patients on shift by shift basis.
The ED nurse in charge will hand over to the nursing staff on the Beech Frailty Unit. Patients will be assessed by the medical team who will document and execute the management plan.
The nurse will have to demonstrate good and sound leadership skills to provide professional leadership, support, and advice to the nursing workforce within the Frailty unit and drive developments in nursing practice, to improve patient care and experience. The role will facilitate education, and training for registered and non-registered nursing staff, as well as act as a role model, to provide educational and training support in the clinical area for all aspects of nursing and has a professional attitude.

The Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital is one of eight to be accredited as part of a national scheme; the Care Quality Commission has raised the ratings forurgent and emergency careat Queen's and King George hospitals; anddata released by NHS Englandshowed that the Trust was the most improved in 2023 for reducing waits for emergency care.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
