This job is now closed

Job summary

The newly formed EPR Team is excited to announce a fixed term or secondment opportunity to join the programme team as our EPR Workforce Change and Engagement Lead.

We are committed to developing, investing in and deploying an Electronic Patient Record (EPR) solution for Barking, Havering & Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, and are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals with experience of NHS workforce transformation programmes to join our dynamic team.

The implementation and adoption of our new EPR brings great change to some specific workforce groups within the Trust, and this role will be vital in supporting those groups through this change, bringing together the postholder's communications, engagement, and workforce transformation skills to ensure that the workforce changes deliver the expected benefits, whilst consulting and engaging with these affected staff during the transition.

This role is integral to supporting our staff through the upcoming change, and therefore we would welcome informal enquiries about the role in advance.

Main duties of the job

The EPR Workforce Change and Engagement Lead will be responsible for playing a key role in the implementation of the new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system across Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT). We are working in partnership with Barts Health Trust (BHT); adopting their EPR version, tailored for the BHRUT workflows.

This system will replace the Trust's existing Patient Administration System and enable the Trust to conduct the majority of its clinical communication and documentation on an integrated digital system. This means that a significant proportion of the workflows and processes that rely on capture and transfer of information using paper will be removed. This has a significant impact on certain staff within the organisation. The Trust is committed to communicating and engaging with, supporting, and developing these staff during the transition.

We are seeking an individual from an NHS background with experience in leading and managing complex cross-functional workforce transformation and engagement work, with significant HR and organisational development insight and change management skills.

About us

We provide care for the residents of three diverse London boroughs. Most of our 7,800 permanent staff live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge and the majority are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.

Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals and we operate from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London - more than 300,000 people visited our A&Es in 2023. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Community Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic.

We're pleased to be leading the way in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital is one of eight to be accredited as part of a national scheme; the Care Quality Commission has raised the ratings forurgent and emergency careat Queen's and King George hospitals; anddata released by NHS Englandshowed that the Trust was the most improved in 2023 for reducing waits for emergency care.

We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
