Are you a highly driven, initiative-taking, and creative experienced Occupational therapist (OT) looking for a new challenge? Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals Trust are actively recruiting for a motivated and dynamic Band 6 OT to join our Integrated Therapies Team for the Acute Medical wards at Queen's Hospital in Romford, Essex.We are looking for somebody who is enthusiastic in supporting change, who enjoys working in fast paced acute healthcare and is looking to accept a challenge in a supportive, innovative environment. We require an innovative person who can demonstrate strong clinical as well as excellent communication and team management skills. The focus is on early assessment and intervention to support high quality patient care and we are therefore seeking somebody who can demonstrate rapid and robust decision making. Ability to demonstrate highly specialist skills in acute care of the elderly and knowledge of health and social care are essential.You will have a flexible approach is essential as you will also support other areas when required within the wider Medical Team to meet service demands. Main duties of the job
To perform advanced Occupational Therapy assessment for patients with diverse presentations and complex physical, cognitive, and psychological / mental health conditions. To provide a diagnosis of functional status, to develop and deliver an individualised treatment plan.
To hold responsibility for own case load and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision. Access to advice and support from a senior Occupational Therapist is available as required. Supervision takes the form of regular informal / formal discussions and teaching, clinical reasoning sessions and peer review.
To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner, demonstrating time management and planning skills.
To supervise, educate and assess the performance of less experienced Occupational Therapists and assistants to ensure the standards of practice of the department are met.
As practice placement educator, to supervise, educate and assess the performance of occupational therapy students. This would be to a graduate standard and involve working with a senior Occupational Therapist and university staff.

The Elective Surgical Hub at King George Hospital is one of eight to be accredited as part of a national scheme; the Care Quality Commission has raised the ratings forurgent and emergency careat Queen's and King George hospitals; anddata released by NHS Englandshowed that the Trust was the most improved in 2023 for reducing waits for emergency care.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also part of the North East London Cancer Alliance.
