Job summary
*For entry to the Specialty Grade Doctor, applicants will have completed a minimum of 12 years' medical work (either continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification of which a minimum of six years should have been in a relevant specialty in the Specialty Doctor and/or closed SAS grades. Equivalent years'experience in a relevant specialty from other medical grades including from overseas will also be accepted.
*The post-holder will be encouraged to advance their career in Geriatrics and/or a medical specialty, and will be supported in obtaining postgraduate qualifications. The Division also has experience of supporting doctors in CESR (previously Article 14) applications, and again this would be encouraged for suitably experienced doctors.*The post offers excellent experience in all aspects of acute General and Care of the Elderly Medicine. * The appointee will be based at ether Queens or King George Hospital, but this may change depending on service need. All post holders will be expected to cover the full on call rota pattern
Main duties of the job
We are recruiting 3 x Specialist Grade Doctors within the division of Geriatrics and Frailty. This is a full time substantive contract post.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative professional to join a growing team of Geriatricians with varying interests and skills to enhance and develop our current service provision. The Department currently provides specialist services for acute frailty, falls, dementia, orthogeriatrics, surgical liaison, Parkinson's disease. The Trust is keen to develop an outstanding geriatric service and is looking for a highly motivated and innovative physician to supplement the present team.
Post holders will be joining an experienced team of eight Consultants he Specialty. You will be working in partnership with Consultant colleagues, trainees, junior doctors, matrons, ward managers, nursing and therapy teams as part of a well-established multi-professional team.You will provide support for the care of medical patients throughout their pathway within the division. There will be opportunities to gain experience in speciality outpatient clinics, as well as supporting with the quality improvement of the department. There are also opportunities for development and progression, for which we are eager to strengthen our team and are particularly keen to receive applications from those who wish to develop their careers within Geriatrics and Stroke to a senior level.
