Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our Strategic Design team. As a Strategy Design advisor, you will need to be an Innovative thinker, an influential leader who is passionate about addressing the wider determinants of ill health for our local population. The role is fast paced and requires effective communication and partnership skills, as well as experience working in a challenging health and care environment at a senior level. The postholder will work closely with senior leaders, trust and group executives as well as all key stakeholders as part of the North East London (NEL) Integrated Care System (ICS) , while reporting to the Trust Director of Strategic Design.

The main focus of the role will be supporting and driving the development of effective partnerships, co-designing and delivering the trust clinical and organisational strategies and its organisational anchor programme . You will need a wide range of highly developed analytical skills and you must be able to demonstrate that you are a strong team player with a flexible and adaptive leadership approach.

The ideal candidate will have experience of data analysis and problem solving and the ability to understand the drivers of ill health and the role of acute providers can play in this new landscape.

Main duties of the job

Provide high quality design support and advice to colleagues across the organisation, working with them to develop their own local strategic plans that align with the Trust, Group, and System strategies.

Provide excellent programme and project management expertise to support the monitoring, management and assurance associated with effective design and delivery of the Trust strategy and its associated initiatives.

In addition to these functions, the strategy team play a very integral role in building relationships across the Organisation, Acute Provider Collaboratives, Place and Integrated Systems. They are ambassadors for strategy- proactively seeking opportunities to further design and embed the strategy throughout the organisation, and support trust colleagues to further develop their own strategic skills.

About us

Under the leadership of our Chair Jacqui Smith and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive, we provide care for the residents of three of the most diverse London boroughs. More than half of our 7,500 strong workforce are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and most live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.

Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals, operating from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London.

As we recover from Covid-19, we're proud to be leading the way nationally in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive forour teams to innovate and change.

We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and our performance against the four-hour emergency access standard remains challenged, in comparison to many other London trusts.

We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
