Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and driven Advanced Clinical/Nurse Practitioner to join our established team. You may be expected to work cross site between our emergency and elective hub. As a part of the emergency surgical team, you will be assessing, diagnosing and treating patients presenting to our emergency and ambulatory departments, and continuing high quality care for our surgical inpatients. At our Elective Surgical Hub, you will use your assessment skills to provide clinical care to our pre and post-operative patients. Our innovative Elective Surgical Hub at our King Georges Site is one of eight pilot sites nationally to develop our current services and have already secured £14m to expand our theatres, upgrade our staff facilities and double the number of recovery beds. Main duties of the job
The Advanced Nurse/Clinical Practitioner (ANP) will work as part of the Surgical team, using specialist knowledge and skills to provide healthcare independently to patients. The ANP is accountable for the management of patients on surgical wards and in the Surgical Assessment Unit.
The post holder will act as a role model, delivering advanced practice and promoting clinical effectiveness in care. He/she will be required to work autonomously in delivering independent assessment, clinical examination, diagnosis, clinical decision making and prescribing. They will contribute to the planning of care and treatment, health promotion and safe admission or discharge of patients.
The post holder will work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team and will play an integral role in the operational/strategic development of the service.
The post holder will promote and facilitate evidence-based practice and clinical audit and research within the Trust.
The post holder will work collaboratively with other health care professionals and disciplinaries and provide leadership and education to others.

Under the leadership of our Chair Jacqui Smith and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive, we provide care for the residents of three of the most diverse London boroughs. More than half of our 7,500 strong workforce are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and most live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge. We also provide healthcare services to people in south west Essex, and specialist neurosciences services to the whole of the county.
Our services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals, operating from two main sites - King George Hospital in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London.
As we recover from Covid-19, we're proud to be leading the way nationally in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive forour teams to innovate and change.
We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and our performance against the four-hour emergency access standard remains challenged, in comparison to many other London trusts.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
