Job summary
Pathology IT at Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals Trust is bringing in new technologies and we need people to join us during this exciting time. You will be responsible for undertaking technical application support and system administration for our LIMS so a flexible attitude and an ability to prioritise your own workload will be key.
We're looking for an IM&T Application Support Officer with experience in Laboratory Information Management Systems who will work as part of a growing team to support over 360 staff across our laboratories, providing a vital service to the hospital and local community.
You should be able to handle confidential information, work to tight deadlines and be able to multi-task to deal with multiple incidents awaiting resolution. In addition, it would be great you already have experience of Pathology systems administration (WinPath Enteprise, CyberLab, SampleNet, CIM), experience of processing data and reporting (Excel, PathManager), experience of writing standard operating procedures and an understanding of project management principles.
Main duties of the job
The Pathology IM&T Application Support Officer will undertake technical support and system administration as well as development tasks of any complexity as directed by the Pathology IT Manager. They must be knowledgeable and proficient in the use of more than one Pathology IT System. As a senior member of staff, they would participate in the planning, monitoring and quality assurance activities in Pathology IT, as well as support, documentation and other duties. They will also be involved in liaison with all departments in Pathology and customers outside Pathology. They will ensure IM&T information is processed in accordance with policies & procedures. They may advise staff/customers on systems / policy. They may develop or adapt a range of software / information reports and they may deliver IM&T training.
The postholder must be able to demonstrate proficiency and competence in all technical areas for which they are responsible. In addition, they must be conversant with the various Pathology IT systems and to recognise the importance of proper change control throughout the solution.

We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London.
As we recover from Covid-19, we're proud to be leading the way nationally in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive forour teams to innovate and change.
We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and our performance against the four-hour emergency access standard remains challenged, in comparison to many other London trusts.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
