Job summary
We are seeking a part time (30 hours per week) registered nurse to join an established multi-disciplinary team in Occupational Health working five days per week, Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm or 8am - 4pm. The department is based on the Queens Hospital site, but successful the applicant may also be required to work cross site at King Georges Hospital, where required.The post holder will be responsible for running vaccination clinics, formulating results letters. The post holder will be proactive and effective with excellent organisational skills. The post requires sound IT knowledge with the ability to independently manage Microsoft word/excel. The role will include assessment of sharps and splash injuries and satellite clinics at other hospital sites. The post holder will need to be fully aware of the Trust mission and values and act accordingly.
The job predominantly involves the day to day running of vaccination/blood taking clinics, preparing results letters, screening pre placement applications, ordering and collecting supplies. The departments operating hours are 8am - 5pm, between Monday-Friday.
Main duties of the job
Book staff/clients into appropriate clinics as required.
Access the Trusts blood results system for blood results and complete accurate results letters.
Participate in the control, storage and competent administration of medication and treatments as prescribed according to the NMC guidelines and the Trust's Guidelines for the Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines.
Provide support to the Occupational Health Nurse Specialists and the service delivery team as required.
Ensure adherence to Department of Health Guidance with reference to administration of vaccines, and practice within OH Operating Protocols.
Order and collect vaccines and stock as required, ensuring vaccines are stored correctly.
Liaise with the wider OH team to enable efficient administration within department.
Promote a safe clinical environment for all clients, visitors and staff.Be aware of essential procedures and take appropriate action in the event of cardiac arrest, fire or major incident.
Complete the daily nursing duties which may include management of infectious disease outbreaks, such as TB, and working collaboratively with other BHRUT departments during this process.

We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and our performance against the four-hour emergency access standard remains challenged, in comparison to many other London trusts.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
