Job summary
Our Urology Elective services operates from King George Hospital and Emergency Urology is provided at Queens hospital. Based at King George Hospital is Maple Suite which is a dedicated unit were the diagnostic urology activity takes place. We have made a £800,000 investment to instal a state-of-the-art ESWL machine to benefit our Urology stone patients. Our elective services at King George Hospital are a part of our protected and dedicated elective hub. Our hub and its activity has been featured in may national document and National news for its innovation. Urology also has access to Da Vinci Robot which is used currently to carry out some benign Urology procedures. We have recently installed dedicated advanced laser machines to carry our urology stone procedures. We provide a large diagnostic service for cancer and routine patients, a one stop clinic, along with flexible cystoscopies, Trus biopsies and template biopsies, Nurse led biopsy service.
Our emergency urology services at Queens Hospital are supported by a Urology Receiving Room and consultant of the week model.
We are a training centre for biopsies as well as a recognised as good training unit for registrars. One of our Urology Consultant is the Training Programme director. You will have access to a fortnightly Teaching program, and to Audit and Research activities.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic, team player to enhance our team and support our recovery post covid to ensure our patients are seen and treated in a timely manner.
The successful candidate will undertake outpatient clinics, theatres as well as being part of the on-call rota, which is Consultant of the Week model. We are looking for someone that is innovative and puts the patient's care and experience first and foremost.

We also provide outpatient services at Brentwood Community Hospital, Barking Hospital, Loxford Polyclinic, and Harold Wood Polyclinic. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London.
As we recover from Covid-19, we're proud to be leading the way nationally in reducing the time our patients wait to get the treatment they need. The pandemic provided the drive for our teams to innovate and change.
We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and our performance against the four-hour emergency access standard remains challenged, in comparison to many other London trusts.
We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We're also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.
