BHR are seeking to recruit a highly motivated Registered Nurse who has a keen interest in the field of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC). This is an exciting opportunity to work with the IPC Team and the Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC) at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals Trust as part of a dynamic IPC team. The successful candidate will support the Trust to meet the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 Code of practice on the prevention and control of infection and related guidance.
The role includes all aspects of IPC and the successful candidates will be developed to be able provide specialist advice, deliver training, perform audit and undertake and interpret surveillance of healthcare associated infection. Support will be given to undertake a specialist qualification in Infection Prevention and Control.

You will be required to support the delivery of a high quality IPC service across all areas. Therefore you must have a flexible approach to work, demonstrating organizational skills and be able to work to deadlines. You will be required to have good communication skills at all times.
Main duties of the job
To work closely with the Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC), Deputy Director of Infection Prevention and Control (Dep. DIPC), Infection Prevention & Control Doctor (IPCD) and other Infection Prevention & Control Nurses (IPCNs) in the planning, provision and promotion of a comprehensive Infection Control Service for BHRUT.
- Identify, investigate and monitor infections and hazardous practices/procedures. Work with the IPCD in the investigation and control of outbreaks of hospital infection
- Act as liaison between the laboratory, medical and nursing staff to ensure appropriate management of patients in the control of infection whilst monitoring and preventing hospital acquired infection
- Develop and deliver educational programmes to multi-disciplinary staff
- The post holder will rotate throughout BHRUHT to gain maximum educational benefit from all specialties within the Trust and to ensure maximum specialist cover for leave.
