To assist Radiology Systems cr.-ordinator and Divisional Management Team in ensuring the delivery of Referral to Treatment (Targets (RTT) and other applicable National targets.
To provide an efficient and effective centralized booking service for outpatient appointments, day cases and pre-op assessment to patients by means of telephone and face to face contact.
To receive and respond to booking requests both from within the hospital and from external agencies (Satellite clinics).
To ensure that all trust activity for external referrals is collated and recorded onto the hospital Patient Administration System (PAS) in an accurate and timely manner to ensure receipt of appropriate funding and tariffs.
To ensure that all patients have the opportunity to choose a convenient date and location for their appointment or admission.
To ensure that all appointment slots are filled and beds utilised efficiently.
To ensure the smooth and effective day to day running of the Radiology Diagnostic areas
Main duties of the job
Send referrals to the relevant clinician for triage/acceptance/protocolling where required.
Log triaged referrals onto the CRIS/PAS as appropriate, ensuring data quality by following the Partial/Direct booking systems, ensure all patients have the opportunity to agree their appointment/admission date by giving them advanced notice
Select appropriate patients and send invitation letter taking into consideration current waiting times per Clinic/Consultant/scanner and ensuring all patients are booked within appropriate time frame.
Book appointments/admissions according to booking guidelines & systems with the patients and provide advice and information on outpatient procedures, appointments, admissions and clinic arrangements.
When contacting a patient by telephone- Follow questionnaire for patients booking MRI scans to ensure the safety of the scan. Raise any concerns with the Radiology Systems co-ordinator
Collaborate with other staff and departments as necessary to arrange appropriate appointments/investigations/admissions.
Ensure that patients receive all relevant written and verbal information regarding their appointment/admission/procedure
Receive and respond to communications from patients wishing to change or cancel their appointments ensuring guidelines in the Patient Access Policy are followed.
Ensure that all radiology room slots and beds are utilised efficiently.
Monitoring and updating consultants diaries, ensuring that all procedures are booked in their outlook diary.

- Ensure that appointments and admissions do not breach waiting time targets.
- Participate in the achievement of the departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
- Effectively update and manage radiology waiting lists, removing referrals when appropriate.
- Ensure that patient contact details are correct and up to date including mobile phone numbers and ethnic group collection.
- Work as part of the wider team to support an efficient and effective booking service
- Make sure telephone consent is updated to make sure patients are reminded of appts using the SMS reminder service (communicator)
- Undertake training as necessary to fulfil the requirements of the post.
