Main duties of the job
To participate in team nursing and when appropriate, organise the patientscare for that team in the team leaders absence.
Report to medical staff on the condition of patients, receive medical instructionsand implement as necessary.
Ensure that every precaution is taken to safeguard patients property andvaluables.
Participate in multi-disciplinary approach to the rehabilitation of patients withneurological disorders.
Participate in the training of other nursing staff, including basic and post basiclearners in consultation with Sister/Charge Nurse wherever applicable.
Control and co-ordinate activities of the ward team in the absence of WardSister/Charge Nurse.
Be aware of, and adhere to, all the Trust policies and procedures andstandards of care.
Maintain high standards of nursing care and review these standards with theWard Manager.
Participate as a named nurse for a small group of patients.
Assist subordinate staff to understand their role in the unit team.
Be aware of the economic use of ward equipment and stores.
Ensure adequate security, administration, proper use and recording ofdangerous drugs in accordance with hospital policy.
Ensure up to date knowledge of new equipment being used.
Furthering own professional development by ensuring that own clinical andprofessional knowledge is widened and enriched by attending study days and ensure confidentiality at all times.
