Job summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Surgical Site Surveillance Nurse to join our Neurosurgery team at The Walton Centre. This specialist role is vital in reducing surgical site infections (SSIs) and improving patient safety by leading the surveillance of surgical site infections (SSIs) and driving improvement initiatives across the Trust
Main duties of the job
Lead the collection and validation of SSI data for relevant surgical categories
Ensure efficient and accurate data entry and oversee reporting processes
Review surveillance results and gain consensus prior to submission to UKHSA
Prepare and present reports to surgical teams, divisional leads, and infection prevention committees
Collaborate with surgeons, theatre staff, and infection control practitioners to implement best practices
Educate staff on SSI prevention protocols and evidence-based guidelines
Contribute to audits, quality improvement projects, and national reporting requirements
