Job summary

The post holder will provide a safe, effective, and high quality phlebotomy service topatients, ensuring timely and accurate collection of blood specimens.

Main duties of the job

o To provide an efficient, safe correct venepuncture service to patientso To maintain high standard in control of infection procedureso To perform to the work practices as set out in the policy for disposal of sharps andvenepuncture policyo To maintain patient's safety at all times

o To maintain accurate documentation and electronic records at all timeso To ensure all blood samples are sent safely to clinical laboratorieso To work in collaboration with other Health Care professionals, and work as part of ateam to provide high standard of serviceo Correctly identify patients using the trust's verification procedureso Label and handle samples in accordance with laboratory requirementso Provide reassurance and care to anxious or distressed patientso Work independently on wards and other clinical areas
