Band 8a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist in Long Term Neurological Conditions.

A rare opportunity has arisen for an 8a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to lead our Occupational Therapy in Long-Term Neurological Conditions Service at The Walton Centre, Liverpool.

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Occupational Therapist to lead and develop the service we provide within the wider Long -Term Neurological Conditions Service. You will work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team to provide highly specialist occupational therapy services and make a difference in the lives of patients who have long-term neurological conditions. This will include those with a neuromuscular conditions and those with other neurological conditions such as MS.

You should have have extensive clinical experience and skills working with individuals who have long-term neurological conditions including those which are degenerative. Sensitive communication and leadership skills are essential to enable the service to continue to develop and ensure high standards of evidence-based practice.

Main duties of the job

Take the lead responsibility for the day to day management of occupational therapy staff within the Neurology outpatient department

To provide high quality, comprehensive, specialist Occupational Therapy interventions for people living with long-term neurological conditions including MS, Neuromuscular Disorders, MND, NMO and other related neurological conditions.

Ensuring appropriate evidence-based pathways of care and communications via liaison and referral to other agencies as required.

  • Working closely with Consultant Neurologists and the multidisciplinary team to develop best practice and specialist services within the long-term neurological conditions services as required.
  • To work in collaboration with Consultant Neurologists, MDT and Therapy Service Manager to ensure long-term neurological conditions services are developed according to the changing needs of the patient.
