Great things are happening in our Hospital Pharmacy Services across University Hospitals Liverpool Group (UHLG). UHLG is one of largest and most complex NHS organisations in the UK, serving a large, diverse and deprived population.

Following a successful business case, we're expanding our services at Liverpool Women's Hospital (LWH) - and we're thrilled to offer several new roles to support our passionate and dedicated pharmacy team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist the Lead Clinical Pharmacist for Maternity in the development and delivery of medicines management and pharmacy services to obstetric areas.

They will provide an advanced level, highly specialist clinical pharmacy and medicines supply service to patients across all the Maternity areas.

They will ensure that medicines use is high quality, safe, rational, cost effective, legal and accurate. They will also provide training and education for pharmacists, midwives, nurses, and doctors as appropriate.

They will act as line manager for the junior pharmacists employed in the department

  • Vocational master's degree in pharmacy or equivalent
  • Membership of The General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent

Desirable

  • Full NMP qualification
  • MRPharmS
  • UKCPA membership

Experiance

Essential

  • Relevant post diploma experience at specialist clinical pharmacist level in a range of specialists within secondary care

Desirable

  • Experience of providing pharmacy services to maternity and/or specialist women's health services
  • Experience of supervision, training and education of midwives
  • Experience of clinical audit and literature evaluation
  • Experience of line management, mentoring and of working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience of review and management of directorate drug budget
  • Experience of providing teaching/education sessions to multi-professional groups

Knowledge & Skills

  • Good all-round clinical knowledge including use of medicines in pregnancy and lactation
  • Excellent written communication skills
