Job summary
A Recruitment and Retention Premium of £4,500 (pro rata) will be paid to new and existing Sonographers. Reviewed annually.
Full time and part time hours will be considered. This vacancy is permanent however fixed term and other alternative working patterns will be considered.

Then Liverpool Women's Hospital (LWH) may be the place for you to excel. A clinical diagnostic centre (CDC) has recently been established at LWH and we are now setting up a general ultrasound service, this will be incorporated into the main ultrasound department and provides exciting opportunities
As a key member of the team you will have the opportunity to demonstrate and develop your skills and expertise in gynaecology and general ultrasound. You will need to be able to work independently demonstrating a high level of competence, excellent communication skills with an awareness of the four pillars of advanced practice
All sonographers actively take part in BMUS peer audit and participate in learning meetings to constantly improve the scan service we offer to our patients. We pride ourselves on providing the safest and most up to date and dynamic ultrasound procedures and we constantly ensure our sonographers are at the forefront of the new technological advances using only the best ultrasound equipment available.
Main duties of the job
The Sonographer will be involved in the development and delivery of the new general and gynaecological CDC ultrasound services at LWH. They will participate in mutidisciplinary team working and be a member of the wider ultrasound team working with sonographers, HCAs and students.
They will be able to organise their workload efficiently and liase with referrers, other staff and service users to optimise service delivery; as well as being aware of the demands of a CDC.
The Post Holder will be able to work unsupervised in delivering aspects of ultrasound scanning that may include:
-Gynaecology scanning
-General scanning (abdominal, urinary, small parts)
-Vascular scanning (desirable but not essential)
-Obstetrics scanning (desirable but not essential)
The Sonographer will act independently, interpreting scan findings and producing written free text reports on examinations performed. Excellent communication skills are essential due to the need to deliver highly sensitive and potentially upsetting information to both patients and relatives. The Sonographer will also assist in the training and supervision of students , newly qualified staff and other professional groups; as well as being a key part of the departmental preceptorship process.
We expect our sonographer to actively help with governance, QA and audit and value their input on how we can achieve the best diagnostic outcomes.
There is regularly overtime available at weekends and evenings which is optional.
