Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join the Genomic Associate team at the Liverpool Centre for Genomic Medicine. The service is based at, and managed by the Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust, serving the patients of the Cheshire and Merseyside region.

Main duties of the job

The role involves contacting patients who need further information collecting prior to and following an appointment with a clinician. Information includes medical information, family history and medical records and will involve contacting other relevant bodies as determined by the clinician. It will also involve drawing family pedigrees and ensuring information is ready for the clinical team to make accurate assessments.

Essential

  • Basic understanding of human genetics, inheritance patterns and genetic illness
  • Able to demonstrate excellent communication skill both written and oral
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Good knowledge of computers, including MS Office, Excel and Outlook
  • Adaptable and flexible with a willingness to adapt to change
  • Ability to enter data correctly and accurately and maintain computer and paper records systems
  • Initiative and ability to prioritise own workload
  • Demonstrate willingness and ability to use own initiative.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team

Qualifications & Learning

Essential

  • Good general standards of education. Minimum of 5 GCSE, including Maths & English grade C and above or equivalent
  • Willingness to undertaking any training deemed necessary for the post
