In addition to our core Obstetrics, Maternity, Neonatal and Gynaecology services we have recently established a CT and MRI service as part of the Crown Street Community Diagnostic Centre.This is an exciting development and provides CT and MRI to the region as well as to the Women and babies at LWH.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with previous CT/ MRI experience to take the next step in their career. The Imaging Department is a forward thinking and friendly team specialising in general x-ray, fluoroscopy, Dexa, Ultrasound, MRI and CT.

We have a small friendly radiography team and the ability to work independently and be self-directed in the role is key. There is a commitment to on-call duties as part of this role. Any relevant training for additional duties will be provided. Please note that CT and MRI are extended working days.
Applicants must have demonstrable postgraduate experience.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected :
To undertake general radiography, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, and DEXA.
To participate in the extended day and on call Rota.
To prepare and administer CT and MRI contrast injections following the departmental PGD's.
To work in compliance with all local rules and appropriate legislation.
To organize workload efficiently and liaise with referrers and other staff to optimize service delivery.
Participation in equipment testing and analysis for Quality Assurance is required.
To develop and improve professional expertise via continuous professional development.
The post holder will be expected to work with minimal supervision and to supervise, train and mentor junior colleagues, student radiographers and new starters.
To deputise for the service lead as required.

The Radiographer will be involved in the delivery of Radiography services to all patients attending the imaging department, satellite units and wards, with some weekend working and on-call cover as required.
Perform a range of x-ray examinations, CT/MRI, DEXA scanning (training provided) and fluoroscopy imaging in an outpatient and inpatient capacity to the agreed standards of the department.
Participate in the provision of the out of hours x-ray, CT and MRI services to include on call and weekend working patterns.
To work autonomously, as required, in designated specialist and general areas of Imaging making effective clinical decisions in accordance with best practice, IR(ME)R guidelines, MRI safety advice and professional judgement.
To assess the clinical justification of Referrals acting as a practitioner, in line with national regulations IR(ME)R 2000 and local guidelines.
To have extensive working knowledge and understanding of all specialist equipment and techniques and to competently operate the equipment to safely obtain diagnostic images.
Use of advanced imaging software in CT and MRI to produce required images and measurements as required.
Interpret images to assess diagnostic and technical quality.
To carry out duties in a professional manner always providing a high standard of care.
To ensure that all standard operating procedures, protocols, and guidelines are adhered to by all members of staff.
Establish patients suitability for administration of IV contrast media, assessing the risk of contraindications and ensuring appropriate aftercare.
To carry out IV cannulations and injections of contrast media as required and to maintain clinical competence.
Work efficiently, managing own workload, organizing, and prioritising work, liaising with clinics and wards to optimize service.
To participate in multi-disciplinary team working.
To work using own initiative but maintaining an awareness of own limitations and to seek guidance when required.
To address the patients health and well being including modification of techniques, involving the manipulation of patient and equipment, to obtain diagnostic information.
To participate in the evaluation and development of new imaging techniques
