Job summary

We are looking for our next Chief Executive to lead Liverpool Women's NHS Foundation Trust at an exciting but challenging time.

You will be ambitious for women's health, collaborative and engaging in style whilst at the same time driving significant improvement in both financial and clinical sustainability to secure the best future for these vital services. You will be inclusive, actively anti-racist and proactive in terms of addressing health inequalities. You will be an active partner in a complex local health system and will work with the Board and system-partners to proactively shape the future organisational form of the Trust.

Main duties of the job

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is accountable to the Chairman and Trust Board for the leadership and management of the Trust. Specifically, the Chief Executive will:

  • Proactively lead the transition to a shared leadership model
  • Ensure the delivery of safe, caring, responsive, well-led and effective services
  • Provide visible and inspirational leadership and (drive and ambition in the) management of the organisation, its resources, plans and activities
  • Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and strategic partners
  • Represent the Trust externally, developing and promoting its reputation as a specialist women's service of national and international standing
  • Work actively with the city's Universities and other regional leaders in seeking to address health inequalities and achieve the best possible life chances for the population served
  • Ensure that all relevant legal and statutory obligations are fulfilled
  • Promote a strong values-driven fair & just culture
  • Promote understanding of the Trust's values, objectives, policies and services
  • Lead the inclusion agenda in the organisation, being actively anti-racist
  • Remain abreast of developments in healthcare regionally, nationally and internationally so as to dynamically develop the most appropriate strategy for the Trust and ensure that strategy is delivered
  • Act as 'accountable officer' for the Trust within the statutory framework for NHS Foundation Trusts.
