An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Upper GI team at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre as a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist on a 12 month secondment to cover maternity leave
The post holder will provide specialist advice and support to patients and their carers throughout their care pathway, as well as providing education and support to staff throughout the trust. The post holder will support the consultant team as well as delivering nurse led services for patients diagnosed with Upper GI cancer.
This role is currently based at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in Liverpool, however you will be required to travel between our network hospital sites, and will work across 2 locations (Liverpool and Wirral, base location being Liverpool).
Main duties of the job
Develop new and innovative ways of working within CCC and the wider network area. Develop new patient pathways and processes that enable consultant teams to work more effectively and efficiently; thereby contributing to a reduced patient wait in clinics and improved follow up processes.Support standards of safe practice within the Trust that ensures the appropriate person, in the appropriate place, in an efficient and timely manner, cares for patients identified. Co-ordinate direct admission of patients presenting with complications of treatment or needing supportive therapy, through agreed protocols and processes.Contribute to the Multi-Disciplinary Team discussion, participate in the advanced physical and psychosocial assessment , interpreting clinical and diagnostic findings in order to determine a diagnosis, evaluate interventions/treatments for patients with complex needs and develop an evidence based plan and co-ordination of care. As a result communicating actions by clinical stafffor the safe and timely delivery of patient care.
