This is a 12-month fixed-term contract initially, following an internal promotion.
Main duties of the job
The Business Intelligence Developer will be responsible for the development of reports and dashboards to support the management of the Trusts chosen Business Intelligence and dashboard reporting solution. They will be responsible for assisting with the design, development and maintenance of activity reporting across the Trust, as well as statutory reporting for external agencies.
This will involve collaborative working with the wider Business Intelligence team to embed development and automation in the analysts daily life. This includes gathering requirements in order to develop solutions that are of a high standard and meet the demands of both internal and external stakeholders.
The Business Intelligence Developer will ensure development, testing and deployment work is undertaken to a high standard using the agreed departmental methods and standards to deliver robust solutions with acceptable level of performance, ensuring that developments are documented appropriately to facilitate cross team support of solutions. This includes conforming to the agreed change management procedures in place.
The Business Intelligence Developer will support and educate colleagues across the organisation on the Trust Business Intelligence portal, data quality issues and effective ways of working in relation to Business Intelligence.

Responsibility for Information Resources1. To support the Head of Business Intelligence with the provision of data and information for use by the directorates, clinicians, corporate teams, Board of Directors, Council of Governors, NHS Improvement, and Clinical Commissioning Groups by leading the development function.2. Lead the development of new information management initiatives, including a self-service portal for all dashboards and reporting requirements for the Trust.3. Work closely with the database administrators and integration team to ensure development and maintenance of the Trust Data Model(s) and associated architecture artefacts and technical standards.
4. Working with the integration team provide expertise in integrating, and optimising structured and/or unstructured data using highly complex database products, technologies, and methods. Typical examples of the deliverables are database designs, information models (logical, physical and dimensional), data migration plans, and data warehouse repositories.5. Proactively manage the integrity of data within the warehouse: investigating, raising and resolving issues with the appropriate Trust managers.6. To utilise the Trusts data warehouse for all appropriate information requests.7. Work closely with the Clinical Systems Team to ensure that all additions and changes to the clinical system are specified for the data warehouse and information needs.8. Work closely with the Clinical Effectiveness Team and Clinical Coding Team to ensure data processing and analysis is standardised and consistent through the wider Business Intelligence Function.9. Work closely with the Principal Information Analyst to ensure that all analytics requirements are streamlined and maintained following best practice regarding national submissions policies and procedures.10. Ensure that all reporting is fully compliant with data protection legislation, Trust policy and more generally that our reporting conforms to information governance best practice.11. Working with the wider business intelligence team to take a lead in the development of reports and dashboards to users specifications to deliver bespoke performance information and clinical reporting to all relevant departments of the Trust.3. Produce timely and accurate briefing reports and other reports, on own initiative and on request as required. This involves analysing complex data and information from a range of sources.4. Responsible for analysis of highly complex and sensitive data within the data warehouse and the investigation of new data sources.5. Maintain a current working knowledge of NHS and Trust information systems, analytical techniques, departmental policies and procedures as required. Alert and advise other members of the team to information system changes that may affect the recording or reporting of service performance.
