The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK's leading providers of non-surgical cancer treatment, caring for a population of 2.4 million people across Cheshire & Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire.
Our flagship specialist cancer hospital was opened in central Liverpool in June 2020, supported by our hospital on the Clatterbridge Health Park in Wirral providing outpatient cancer treatment and supportive care and our radiotherapy treatment centre on the Aintree Hospital site.
Together, working across three sites and operating specialist chemotherapy clinics in four of Merseyside's district hospitals, we are able to deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies. We also deliver a pioneering Treatment at Home and Work service; are the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers and host the region's Teenage and Young Adult Unit, (supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust).

About us
CDU is a 10 bedded unit consisting of 4 bays, 4 side rooms and 2 clinic rooms. Our service runs Monday-Friday 08:00 to 20:30 with a limited service Saturday and Sunday. We also provide a telephone triage service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Band 3 Senior Health Care Support Workers will be required to rotate to work in our Hotline office as well as working on CDU, this includes night shifts in Hotline. The service is aimed at patients receiving systemic anti cancer treatment (SACT) and Radiotherapy (RT) and managing the side effects that can occur as result of these treatments.
The unit cares for patients requiring a medical review or admission for the management of side effects of systemic anti-cancer treatments and/or radiotherapy.Patients requiring artificial airway management may also attend CDU.

Assist the registered Nurse by developing care plans, assessing and documenting care,providing verbal and written reports in an effective and safe manner.Assist with essential nursing care and anticipate patient dependency and to be proactive inassisting nursing staff with supervision as necessary.Carry out designated clerical duties as delegated by the Ward Manager/Deputy Ward manageror registered Nurse.
