Job summary

The Clatterbridge Cancer is the largest networked cancer centre serving a population of 2.4 million across Merseyside and Cheshire. The Trust has embedded research as part of a key aspect of patient choice. The Research and Innovation Team have established key work areas to set-up and deliver research studies for all patients. Main duties of the job

The post holder will play a key role in ensuring the effective set up, delivery and maintenance of partnerships with Pharmaceutical companies, Charities, other NHS sites, GP surgeries and Academia.

To achieve this, the Industry Manager will plan, implement and manage all campaigns and initiatives agreed to deliver against tangible objectives and ensure that contractual obligations of the partners are administered.

With a proven track record in third party relationship management, the post holder will be enthusiastic with excellent communication and public relations skills. They will have the ability to manage a number of key relationships with our sponsors and partners and will identify promotional initiatives and monitor performance in line with all key targets.

The post holder will have a good understanding of clinical research and ideally have worked in an oncology setting before. They will be expected to communicate complex technical, scientific and sensitive information to colleagues, including briefing external suppliers or liaising with internal stakeholders in both verbal and written forms

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has a large research portfolio ranging from First in Human Trials to translational, real world and qualitative studies. There is an exciting opportunity for an Industry Manager to join the Research Management and Governance Team. CCC has ECMC, BRC and CRF status that focuses on the early phase trials portfolio and a vibrant commercial trials portfolio. This is a key area of research excellence for the Trust regionally and nationally. The post-holder will join a dedicated and driven team to increase and extend already strong links with industry and pharma, contributing strongly to CCC's reputation in clinical trial delivery.

  • Set up, build and maintain partnerships with Pharmaceutical companies, Charities, other NHS sites, GP surgeries and the Academia.
  • Identify and develop key customer networks
  • Promote research internally within the Trust and externally with Pharmaceutical companies, Charities, other NHS sites, GP surgeries and the Academia.
  • In consultation with the Communications Manager and the RM&G Team, provide support for the Trusts communications function, by developing and implementing communications strategies on dedicated research partnerships.
  • Ensure that the Communications Manager is regularly briefed on all major developments and initiatives concerning the partner relationships and promotional activities.
  • Produce a range of media and communication materials appropriate to a variety of stakeholder groups, including writing press releases and websites articles as requested.
  • Brief and manage the activities of advertising, market research, print/production and public relations agencies as required.
  • Responsible for the R&I content on the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre website and intranet for research partnerships.
  • Advise on, and when appropriate, ensure the implementation of new practice/developments within the Directorate and across the Trust which may have an impact on the effective and efficient delivery of research/research governance.
  • Work, liaise and communicate with colleagues across the Trust to improve the visibility of research and research service.
  • Provide and receive complex and sensitive information to colleagues and external suppliers.
  • Supporting public relations and marketing research both internally and externally.
  • Supporting the identification, planning and implementation of service improvements to enhance current systems and processes

  • Work with the Research Partnerships Manager to assure all commercial services are delivered meeting agreed deadlines and objectives within a strategic framework set by the NHS and/or the Trust.
  • Act as a single point of contact for escalation from Sponsors, liasing closely with the Research Partnership Manager and signposting to the most appropriate person.
  • Assist the development of strategic plans for research and the creation of Business plans to support research and research service developments in-line with Trusts strategic objectives.
  • Plan and organise regular meetings with commercial partners to discuss progress, issues, opportunities as required.
  • Plan meetings with commercial sponsors and CCC consultants to discuss drug pipelines.
  • Plan and organise a broad range of complex research activities ensuring all are completed on schedule and adjustments are made for any issues that arise
  • Responsible for the R&I content on the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre website and intranet
  • Support the organisation of the annual research review day for all researchers across the Trust. Responsible for preparing the agenda, booking the venue, inviting attendees and ensuring the day is managed efficiently.

  • Undertake continuing personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job and satisfy the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework requirements relating to the job in liaison with the line manager.
