Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Sonographer to join our Radiology team at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre predominately based in Liverpool. There will also be a rotation to our new Paddington Centre and potentially the Wirral site. The workload is largely oncology-based. We currently provide a 5 day a week ultrasound service which we are planning to expand to cover 6 days and eventually 7.
This is a part-time role to work up to 30 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
As an autonomous practitioner in a cancer centre, you will develop and deliver a high quality specialist oncology ultrasound service alongside our Radiologists and Physicists. You will be able to show evidence of participating in peer-review audit and have an excellent knowledge of current legislation and guidelines. You will ensure sound Clinical Governance (including audit) of the service.
You will have ultrasound experience across a wide range of examinations including abdomen, liver, renal tract, Doppler (upper and lower limb) and thyroid enabling you to work within local protocols. You will have an awareness of how your scope of practice may be different in an oncology setting. Experience in all aspects of oncological ultrasound would be an advantage.
A fascinating and unique component of this role lies in the provision of ultrasound guidance in the positioning of brachytherapy applicators as part of the Brachytherapy Team in theatre: this is a great opportunity to expand your knowledge and experience as a highly respected practitioner within a revolutionary service in the cancer hospital setting.
You will be required to manage your own busy and varied workload with excellent support from the booking and clinical teams. You will also coordinate US guided procedures with the radiologists and the wider teams throughout the centre.
About us
At CCC, you will be part of a small but dedicated team who are committed to monitoring, maintaining and improving our ultrasound services as it expands and evolves. Staff development is actively supported. We are seeking an excellent team worker with demonstrable communication skills who understands the unique requirements of our very special cancer patients.
