Specialist Clinical Pharmacist – Cancer Services

Job summary

We are looking for a pharmacist who would like the opportunity to gain a better understanding of cancer treatment. This post is being offered as a band 6 to 7 progressive post with training to support the candidate to develop as a specialist pharmacist. This challenging but rewarding post, will involve working with cancer patients who are receiving anti-cancer treatment, in our state of the art chemotherapy administration unit. You will also be working closely with medical and nursing staff with the aim of providing safe, effective and timely drug therapy.

Main duties of the job

The Specialist Clinical Pharmacist within Cancer Services will provide a clinical pharmacy service for cancer patients, contributing to the safe, effective, and timely implementation of NICE Technology Appraisals for systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT). The post holder will work closely with the Cancer Lead Pharmacist, clinicians, and the multidisciplinary team to support formulary adoption, funding compliance, and protocol development in line with national guidance. To provide pharmacist supervision for the preparation and release of products within the Pharmacy Technical Services Unit under Section 10 exemption in accordance with standards of Good Manufacturing Practice.

  • Experience of working as a clinical pharmacist in acute setting and covering a broad range of specialities.
