Job summary
Overall responsibility for the operational planning, organisation, and delivery of a quality diagnostic service within the Blood Sciences Department, in collaboration with the Leads of Departments which comprise Blood Sciences, Pathology Service Manager and Pathology Specialty Director in achieving the departments and Directorate aims. The role involves the strategic development of the department through the design, development, and implementation of a system of total quality management that supports and delivers the best quality service to patients and service users. This includes training, education, research, and audit programmes and advising and implementing national legislation and specialist guidelines for the benefit of RCHT patients and the wider healthcare community
Blood science consists currently of the following services:
Clinical Chemistry
Haematology
Blood Transfusion
Blood Science Reception
Point of Care & Phlebotomy
Main duties of the job
Responsibility for the overall management of Blood sciences and the delivery of high quality, timely and cost effective service . You would have overall responsibility for the workforce, KPI's, implementation oversight of process change and ensuring maintenance of regulatory compliance.
You would be providing strategic, managerial and leadership to the departmental senior management team and assist with the Peninsular pathology business case.
