Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated, professional NVQ level 3 trained healthcare assistant to join our friendly and dynamic team, managed by the Headland Unit and covering the outpatients departments of Oncology and Haematology.

The post will provide an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop their clinical skills and knowledge base, working as part of the multi-disciplinary team to support care of cancer patients in the outpatient setting. This will include clinical work such as venepuncture, ECG recording, recording of observations and height/weight. Also involves IT work -recording attendance at clinics booking further appointments and liaising with other hospitals. This post will be based within the Haematology and Oncology Clinics, Headland Unit and have an expectation to assist on our sister ward, Lowen, when required, and any other areas identified as at risk.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of the multi-disciplinary team to support care of cancer patients in the outpatient setting. Also involves IT work -recording attendance at clinics booking further appointments and liaising with other hospitals. This post will be based within the Haematology and Oncology Clinics, Headland Unit and have an expectation to assist on our sister ward, Lowen, when required, and any other areas identified as at risk.

Assisting with prep for clinical procedures such as bone marrow aspirations on the Headland Unit, assisting where required on the unit to help the day to day running of the unit, ie helping reception staff, pharmacy errands, putting away stores deliveries, cleaning clinical equipment.
