Job summary
The Department of Clinical Technology currently has one vacancy for a band 5 Medical Equipment Technician for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with relevant technical experience. The post holder will support the specialised clinical and technical services via preventative maintenance and repair of complex medical devices across The Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust and Community Partnership Foundation Trust. The post holder will work within the Monitoring Team, primarily supporting electronic equipment such as patient monitoring, defibrillators, electrocardiograph machines etc.
An engineering background is essential for this position; medical device knowledge or an electronics background would be an advantage, however device-specific training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
To utilise core and specialist skills to provide day-to-day technical/clinical support for the organisation and other Health Care providers within the equipment management service.
To organise the Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM), service and repair of the specialist area, and meet medical device maintenance turnaround times.
Ensure complex clinical equipment operates and performs effectively, practically, and safely with minimum downtime to a high standard.
To work as part of a multi-skilled technical support team, providing essential and specialised skills.
The post may involve direct and indirect contact with patients where tact, diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality are paramount.
