The Professional Lead for Dietetics provides leadership and governance for approximately 60 dietitians in Cornwall across Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust (RCHT) and Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The post works closely with professional leads for other AHP services as well as the 3rd sector, voluntary services, Higher Education Institutes, and many others.

You will be responsible for the strategic oversight from local, regional, and national perspectives on health, education, workforce development and service delivery. Advising the Associate Director of AHPs, Integrated Therapy Lead, Therapy Managers, Areas Directors, Triumvirate Managers and other operational managers across both organisations.

The post holder will be a member of the AHP Professional leadership structure across CFT and RCHT; leading on undergraduate and post qualification learning, development and CPD To advocate for their profession in the delivery of high quality evidence based patient care.

Main duties of the job

To provide professional leadership and governance across organisations for Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CFT) and Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust (RCHT) and to work closely with other stakeholders within Cornwall to include but not exclusively the 3rd Sector, voluntary services and other areas outside of healthcare.

To provide professional strategic over sight from local and national perspectives on health, education and social care development and service delivery, advising the Associate Director AHP's, Integrated therapy Lead, Therapy managers, Area Directors, Triumvirate Managers and other operational managers across organisations.

To develop and deliver, safe and effective services in accordance with national targets, national and local standards, service priorities and performance indicators, ensuring that the provision of evidence based therapy provision for patients and their families/carers is considered along with clinical guidance from within their professional body.

To work collegiately with operational managers to ensure the current workforce is appropriately trained and have the appropriate skill mix. Contribute to the development of future workforce planning in conjunction with HR and operational managers.

To network at a local, regional and national level to ensure engagement with relevant work streams.

Qualifications/Education and relevant experience

Essential

  • Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, or equivalent
  • Health Care Professions Council registration
  • Evidence of accredited/ theoretical training at Masters level or a willingness to undertake Masters Level modules relevant to Clinical Specialty
  • Evidence of relevant leadership training and or qualification
  • Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio

Skills and aptitude

Essential

  • Experience of leading a team or service
  • Experience of working within a range of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency teams, including evidence of collaboration with other organizations
  • Experience of consulting users and carers and building their feedback and involvement into the design of services
  • Experience of change management, policy development, organisational change, service development, linking to HEI's
  • Evidence of an in-depth knowledge of NHS priorities, processes, and operational issues
  • Involvement in clinical supervision and appraisal processes
  • Involvement in / ability to lead and promote audit, research and understanding quality issues
