The Clinical Coding Engagement and Data Quality Lead will report to the Clinical Coding Service Manager whilst working closely with the Business Intelligence Principal Information Analyst and EPR Project Teams. The successful applicant will provide accurate and comprehensive guidance around clinical coding in relation to the EPR programme. The post holder will also be responsible for establishing and embedding cultural change across the organisation, working closely with transformation leads.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Coding team aid the high quality of patient care delivered across RCHT by providing accurate and in-depth clinical data capture.

The main purpose of this role is to lead in the clinical coding element of the new EPR and to provide the knowledge and expertise required during the planning, design and implantation of the new system.

The post holder will ensure a high level of engagement is sought across the Trust involving colleagues who are key to providing the comprehensive clinical information our clinical coders require to code our inpatient and day case activity.

Data quality will be a key focus of this role with the post holder providing expert knowledge of both local and national data quality standards. You will need to be able to demonstrate an extensive understanding of both ICD-10 and OPCS 4 classifications, complex coding rules and application of national clinical coding standards as well as an aptitude for IT system usage and maintenance.
