Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated team member to train and work in our busy department here at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.Based mainly in the department's workshop you will have responsibility for the department's equipment (hardware and software) to maintain the inventory, maintenance required and troubleshooting as issues arise.

You'll need to be very organised and conscientious to maintain and meet our schedule of calibration to ensure equipment is compliant and able to be used.

You should have excellent communication skills, a good basic standard of education and an enthusiasm to learn. You should be driven by helping patients and going the extra mile to meet their needs.

Previous training or experience as an Audiology Assistant or Hearing Care Assistant would be desirable but not essential. Good IT skills and experience of working within a healthcare setting would be an advantage.Full training will be given for the role and support to help the successful post holder pursue opportunities and a career in audiology. We are a very welcoming team looking for an enthusiastic person to join us.The successful post holder will be expected to cover colleagues in times of sickness and annual leave. This post is fixed term for 12 months working 37.5 hours a week Monday- Friday. However, other hours and working patterns would be considered. Occasional Saturday working may be required.

Main duties of the job

To lead the monitoring of the department's equipment and software including inventory, maintenance and troubleshooting. This also includes ensuring all hardware complies with the set schedule for calibration.

To provide, alongside the other Senior Assistant Audiologists, a hearing aid repair service and to undertake repairs at peripheral sites.

To visit the wards to assist in-patients with hearing aid maintenance, repair and replacement of lost hearing aids.

To assist the Audiologists in a range of routine clinical tasks within predefined limits and to departmental guidelines.
