Job summary

A Band 3 Emergency Surgical Technician will be expected to perform tasks and help assist with the running of the Same Day Surgical Assessment unit (SDSA). SDSA is a developing unit run by a team of surgical nurses, practitioners and doctors. The role of the EST will be to promptly assist the nursing team with bloods and cannulation, ECG's, lumeira testing, bladder scans, blood glucose monitoring, observations and simple triage of the surgically expected patients admitted on to SDSA. This is a new and exciting post which is opening up opportunities within surgery at RCHT.

Main duties of the job

The Emergency Surgical Technician works as part of the SDSA/ward team under the supervision of registered nurses and surgical team:

Participates in the delivery of patient care

Contributes towards ward/department organisation

Supports registered nurses in the provision of a safe and caring environment
