Consultant - Gynaecological Oncologist

Job summary

This is a full-time replacement post for Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist based at the Royal Cornwall Hospital NHS Trust which provides a comprehensive secondary and tertiary service in gynaecological cancer surgery. The appointee will join the existing team of gynaecological oncologists to continue development of the Gynaecological Oncology Service within the region. They will work closely and flexibly with colleagues to ensure that national cancer waiting time targets are met.

The applicants must hold the MRCOG, have subspecialty accreditation in Gynaecological Oncology and be an accredited colposcopist.

This new Consultant will work alongside the two current gynaecological oncologists, Miss Sophia Julian and Miss Jane Borley, to provide subspecialty surgical care for the women of Cornwall and the Plymouth catchment area. The successful candidate will be part of the West Peninsula Gynaecological Oncology Centre linked with Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

Main duties of the job

The Consultant will be involved in both the diagnostic service, including colposcopy, as well as in the surgical treatment of all gynaecological cancers. He or she will be a team player, working closely with all gynaecological colleagues and will take an equal share in the gynaecology on call rota but will not provide any obstetric elective or emergency care.
