Job summary
The purpose of the Team Leader position is to provide on-going professional and clinical leadership to the theatre care teams who are delivering perioperative care, whilst working collaboratively with the clinicians (surgeon and anaesthetist) as part of the wider multi-professional team. The Team Leader will assume the delegated responsibility for managing and leading the delivery of care, in a rostered shift, for patients entering the department. This includes the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation for every individual patient's programme of care.
To be a highly competent, knowledgeable and visible practitioner setting the highest standards of care and ensuring the provision of excellent, evidence-based care for all patients / clients. To act as a role model and skilled practitioner to inspire excellence, constantly demonstrating the highest standards of care and professionalism.
In the absence of the Anaesthetic Manager and the Deputy Anaesthetic Manager. The Team Leader will be expected to take charge and deputise. The Team Leader will assume the delegated responsibility for managing and leading the delivery of care, in rostered shift, for patients entering the department. This includes the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation for every individual patient's programme of care.

Main duties of the job
To have the appropriate clinical qualification, knowledge & experience for anaesthetic support and care.
Work motivationally in partnership and inviting collegiality between multi -disciplinary.
Ability to rapidly identify problems, respond and synthesise appropriate solutions in perioperative patient care teams.
Group motivation and harmonised working in adverse circumstances such as personality conflicts and variations in clinician working practices.
Flexibility to adapt to the needs and demands of patients, staff and the Division.
Achievement of shift objectives and timescales in line with the Divisional expectations.
Rapidly responding to the frequent changes within this evolving organisation.
With the support of the Anaesthetic manager, lead the recruitment and retention of a skilled, competent and effective anaesthetic service workforce for the clinical area and contribute to the identification of new clinical and support roles within their clinical specialty.
To ensure the development of all staff within their team.
To provide an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence-based practice and ensure that such evidence is reflected in clinical practice and subject to regular audit.
To represent their specialty and at times their division in corporate wide forums, operational groups and committees, providing an expert theatre contribution.
