Job summary
We are seeking an organised, proactive and motivated Band 4 Screening Administration Lead to join our Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of a nationally recognised, high-quality screening service that makes a real difference to patient outcomes.
As the Screening Administration Lead, you will oversee the day-to-day administrative function of the service, provide first-line supervision to administrative colleagues, and act as a key contact between clinical teams, the Screening Hub and wider departments. This role is ideal for someone with strong NHS administrative experience who enjoys leading others, improving processes, and maintaining excellent data quality in a fast-paced environment.
Main duties of the job
Provide daily leadership, support and supervision to Administrative Support Officers and Administrative Assistants.
Coordinate rota planning, ensuring appropriate cover and clear communication across the team.
Oversee screening waiting lists and booking processes to support achievement of national and Trust access standards.
Ensure high-quality, accurate data entry across key systems such as BCSS/Open Exeter, PAS/Maxims and Somerset Cancer Register.
Liaise with Endoscopy, Colorectal, Radiology, Pathology and other services to maintain patient flow and optimise capacity.
Lead the administration of relevant MDT meetings, ensuring timely preparation, documentation and outcome recording.
Support the effective maintenance of the service's Quality Management System (QMS), including audits, SOP updates and quality assurance activity.
Carry out a full range of administrative duties when required to ensure service continuity, including booking, telephone queries and patient tracking.
Maintain excellent communication with patients, carers, GP practices, the Screening Hub and clinical teams, ensuring a compassionate and professional approach at all times.
Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, problem-solving operational challenges and supporting staff development.
