Sustainability Lead - Strategy & QI

Job summary

Working as part of the Strategy and Planning team within the Performance, Partnerships and Transformation Directorate, the post holder will work closely with colleagues across the Trust to develop and deliver our ambitious Green Plan and our Trust Objective of achieving net zero.

The Sustainability Manager will drive the development and implementation of the Trust's green plan, ensuring alignment with NHS Net Zero goals and national policy. This role will lead cross-functional initiatives to reduce environmental impact, improve resource efficiency, and embed sustainability into operational and strategic decision-making across the organisation.

The post holder will design, plan and deliver environmentally, socially and financially sustainable change, leading a programme of work to support the Trust to deliver against it's sustainability ambitions.

The Sustainability Manager will have significant experience of delivering sustainability goals in large, complex organisations. They will be a subject matter expert on sustainability and green policies.

The post holder will also take a quality improvement approach to sustainability, considering how colleagues across the Trust can make improvements where they work to support the Trust to become more sustainable.

Main duties of the job

You will have extensive specialist knowledge, expertise and experience in environmental science and sustainability, and have experience of leading the implementation of net zero programmes across large, complex organisations.

You will be a highly experienced leader, with experience of engaging and influencing senior leaders and large groups of clinical staff.

You will be experienced at communicating and reporting, including at Trust Board level.
