The post holder will be an active member of the maternity safeguarding team, providing support, advice and signposting on a range of issues in relation to safeguarding concerns, acting as a source of specialist knowledge in matters relating to pre-birth. Working as part of an Integrated Safeguarding service to support the wider team in undertaking adult and child safeguarding functions.

Liaising closely with other professionals within the integrated safeguarding team and maternity services, alongside the specialist safeguarding midwives, to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with Trust policies. Taking a 'Think family' approach to working, supporting safety planning and multi-agency working relationships. The post holder will be expected to support the daily safeguarding operational workload and provide visibility to support frontline staff.

We are looking for an individual who can manage their own workload, has excellent organisational and communication skills, use initiative to make informed decisions and the ability to multitask. This role involves frequently dealing with highly confidential and sensitive information.

Main duties of the job

Support the maternity safeguarding team with being a point of contact by receiving telephone enquiries, taking accurate messages, dealing with calls and enquires for the service and supporting in the daily management of the generic email inbox.

Provide a visible, accessible presence for the Trust to whom staff and patients can get support for safeguarding concerns. In particular providing additional support in the acute hospital for inpatients.

Manage their day-to-day workload and use their initiative, understanding their own level of responsibility and accountability.Timely response to safeguarding concerns, supporting staff with immediate safety planning alongside the safeguarding specialist midwives.

Provide families that have additional vulnerabilities with support, non-clinical advice and information on a range of issues. Referring to various support services and follow up the outcomes, ensuring actions are documented and shared.

Assist with the co-ordination of pre-birth planning and discharge meetings and attend where required and any other relevant safeguarding meetings, including safeguarding supervisions.

Provide safeguarding supervision.

Support with service development of safeguarding services

Access various Trust electronic systems, inputting and saving relevant safeguarding communications and plans timely.
