Job summary
We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Senior Assistant Technical Officer to join our team at Royal Cornwall Hospital. This is an excellent opportunity to play a vital role in supporting the delivery of high-quality healthcare services within our Audiology department.
As a Senior Assistant Technical Officer, you will provide essential technical and administrative support to ensure the smooth running of audiology clinics and services. Your responsibilities will include preparing and maintaining equipment, assisting with patient care, and supporting the audiology team in delivering efficient and effective services. You will also contribute to stock management, record keeping, and the organisation of clinical resources.
We are seeking someone who is organised, proactive, and committed to providing excellent patient care. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are essential, as you will work closely with clinicians and patients in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience in a healthcare or technical setting is desirable, but full training will be provided to help you succeed in this role.

Main duties of the job
To provide, alongside the other Senior Assistant Technical Officers (SATO), a hearing aid repair service at RCHT Audiology sites around Cornwall, including Otoscopy and earmould impression taking.
To visit the wards to assist in-patients with hearing aid maintenance, repair and replacement of lost hearing aids.
To work alongside an Audiologist on a split fitting appointment, counselling the patient on the management and usage of their newly fitted hearing aid/s.
To undertake directed duties in the Audiology Workshop.
To undertake telephone follow-up clinics in accordance with the telephone follow-up protocol referring onwards as necessary.
To recognise problems beyond own area of knowledge/expertise and to refer onwards or seek advice as required.
Demonstrate own duties to others and support wider team.
