The closing date is 04 January 2026

Job summary

Are you looking to develop a career working with people? Would you like to develop new skills? Are you passionate about delivering high quality healthcare to our community?

If so, this may be the role for you!

Working in both an inpatient and outpatient setting, the majority of the work of a Cardiographer will involve performing electrocardiograms (ECG's) on patients requiring cardiac investigation. The ECG is a fundamental tool in the diagnosis of cardiac disease and a caring, professional manner is therefore an essential requirement.

Additional duties will include the fitting & removal of ambulatory ECG and BP monitors, together with the downloading of information to patient databases. Assisting the Physiologists with administrative and patient focussed tasks. A conscientious attitude and attention to detail are more important than an understanding of computer technology. Full training in all areas will be offered.

Administrative and housekeeping duties will include the detailed logging of all investigations performed and the maintenance of disposable stock levels. An additional role in the booking of patient appointments may also be required.

The position of Cardiographer is very much team orientated although the ability to work independently and unsupervised is integral.

A vital part of the role will involve travelling to various sites and working in both Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro and Community Hospitals and Diagnostics Centres around the County.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be committed to this pivotal role, have good inter-personal skills and ideally have experience of working with the general public. You must be able to travel independently between sites in your own vehicle.

This is an opportunity for either full time or part time working. Core departmental hours Monday - Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm.

To perform quality electrocardiography (ECG) testing with basic interpretation skills.

To modify ECG recording techniques, as directed, applicable to specific medical requirements e.g. rhythm strip records during performance of carotid sinus massage testing.

To fit ambulatory 24 hour ECG monitors.

To take a manual blood pressure (BP) record and fit ambulatory BP monitors.

To fit ECG event recorders.

To download ECG event records to PC database via trans-telephonic or manual means.

To assist the Physiologists with additional administrative and patient focused tasks.
