Job summary

Internal audit is an in-house team with the Director of Audit and Assurance Services reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and to the Audit Committee, which is a sub-committee of the Board of Directors. Internal audit has a wide remit, covering both financial and non-financial systems and activities of the Trust.

ASW Assurance delivers internal audit, counter fraud and consultancy services to healthcare organisations including acute, mental health and foundation trusts, Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) and social enterprises

Main duties of the job

Contribute to the delivery of ASW Assurance's Business Plan.

Assist the Audit Manager/Assistant Audit Manager, as appropriate, in the delivery of client operational internal audit plans.

Ensure that all audit work conforms to the expectations of the quality standards and professional expectations (e.g. duty of care, independence etc.) as stated in the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards and ASW Assurance procedures.

Ensure that all allocated audit work is completed within timescales as stated in the client operational audit plan of the client/agreed with the Audit Manager/Assistant Audit Manager, as appropriate.

Achieve personal and business related objectives and targets set as part of the annual Individual Performance Review (IPR) process and documented in the agreed personal development plan.

Ensure an understanding of the client's business activities is maintained and to keep abreast of current issues within the NHS and internal audit profession.
