Job summary
This is an exciting new opportunity to work as part of the pain specialist nursing team. You will be required to work flexibly across all parts of the pain service, including inpatient, out patient and x-ray procedures. We are looking for a team player who is genuinely interested in pain and pain management, with excellent communication skills and a desire to develop into this post.
Main duties of the job
Providing leadership as a specialist pain nurse to assess patients, plan and implement care, and provide advice and guidance on the management of acute and chronic pain to patients, their carers and staff within all specialties who treat those in pain.
Managing own caseload, receiving MDT referrals and undertaking consult led and nurse-led inpatient ward rounds.
Develop and support safe systems for the appropriate management of pain in hospital and on discharge and maintain associated documentation.
Supporting the implementation of National and Trust Wide policies, guidelines and standards for the management of pain. To benchmark and evidence practice through quality audit.
Providing leadership, education and training, including study days/ workshops on pain management to staff, students, patients and carers across the Trust.
Assisting in the smooth running of outpatient pain clinics and assisting with pain intervention procedures.
Undertaking delegated responsibility for the department in the absence of the lead specialists in pain.
The post holder will be based in the specialty of pain.
The post holder will be an experienced nurse who uses specialist knowledge and skills to support the ongoing provision of the pain service.
